1 Corinthians 12

MEDITATION

Here are some interesting facts about the human body:

Human blood travels 96,000 km per day on its journey through the body.
The human body contains nearly 100 trillion cells.
There are at least 10 times as many bacteria in the human body as cells.
The average adult takes over 20,000 breaths a day.
Water makes up more than 50 percent of the average adult’s body weight
If they were laid end to end, all of the blood vessels in the human body would encircle the Earth four times.

Now the primary image for the church that is used in the New Testament is The Body of Christ. It appears in 4 different letters. It is in Romans, 1 Corinthians, Ephesians and Colossians. So it is an important one.  Every member of the church is part of the body.  Each one of us has a role to play and a purpose to fulfil.

We are all to be committed to building the body of Christ, that is the church. For the body to operate at its best we are all called by God to use what God has given us to serve the body.  In order to fulfill what God has called us to do we need to make sure that we do not neglect meeting together.

PRAYER

O Lord you have called; you have given to each one of us a role and a purpose in the Church.

I pray that I would use what you have given me to build the body of Christ.

That I would use the gifts I have from you to serve the church in unity and love.

Amen.

PRAYER for WEDNESDAY

Today we pray for the following 6 things:

Pray that God will build His church and have His way in our church.

Pray that God will keep, guard, and protect this church from the evil one.

Pray for the believers (all who are part of the Family of Faith); to use the gifts God has given them to build the body of Christ.

Pray we would be committed to building in unity and love.

Pray that we might together walk worthy of the Lord, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.

Pray that God will strengthen us for the task he has given us here at CCB.
