2 Corinthians 8 and 9

“Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.”  (2 Corinthians 9:15)

The last 2 weeks we have worked through 2 Corinthians, chapters 8 and 9.  They remind us of the wonderful grace of Christ.  There is nothing more transforming than the grace of Christ.

God’s generosity should affect our minds and our hearts.  When we know his generosity, it changes us.  And we become different to the world.  We see money differently.  We seek to give generously, sacrificially and cheerfully.

Someone summed up 2 Corinthians 9 very well this week:

She said that the comment Paul makes in 2 Corinthians 9, about reaping what you sow made her think:  ‘It is really true when we sow generosity.  God grows a heart of generosity which in turn gives joy.’

“For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”  (2 Corinthians 8:9)

Lord Jesus teach me to be generous;

Teach me to serve you to toil, and not sick for rest;

To Labour and not to seek reward;

Except that of knowing that I do your will.
